LUCKNOW: The state govt transferred 14 senior IPS officers, including the SSPs of Gorakhpur and Ayodhya.
Raj Karan Nayyar, a 2012-batch IPS officer who was serving as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Ayodhya, was posted as the new SSP of Gorakhpur. In a reciprocal move, Gaurav Grover, the outgoing SSP of Gorakhpur, was appointed as the new SSP of Ayodhya.
Nayyar took charge in Ayodhya in June 2023 and played a key role in overseeing the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in January 2024, along with other critical security deployments in the temple town.
Among other changes, DIG Vaibhav Krishna, who recently led police arrangements during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, was appointed as DIG Varanasi Range. Mohit Gupta, Inspector General (IG) of Varanasi Range, was transferred and posted as Secretary (Home), Govt of Uttar Pradesh.
DIG Saharanpur Range Ajay Kumar Sahni was shifted in the same capacity to Bareilly Range. Meanwhile, SSP Muzaffarnagar Abhishek Singh was promoted and posted as DIG Saharanpur Range.
Sanjay Kumar, who was serving as SSP Etawah, will now take charge as SSP Muzaffarnagar. In turn, SP Kaushambi Brijesh Kumar Srivastava was posted as SSP Etawah, while Rajesh Kumar, DCP Ghaziabad, was made SP Kaushambi.
Further, Anup Kumar Singh, Commandant of the 35th PAC Battalion, was appointed as SP Fatehpur. Dhawal Jaiswal, the outgoing SP Fatehpur, will now serve as DCP in Ghaziabad.
SP Sant Kabir Nagar, Satyajeet Gupta, was transferred to Kanpur Commissionerate as DCP. Meanwhile, Sandeep Kumar Meena, SP GRP Gorakhpur, will take over as SP Sant Kabir Nagar.
In another key posting, Laxmi Niwas Mishra, who was serving as SP in the Anti-Corruption Organization at the Lucknow headquarters, was made SP GRP, Gorakhpur.
