The Detroit Lions' defense coordinator, Kelvin Sheppard, recently praised the newly drafted edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein. The Egyptian-American defensive end has been quite a topic of buzz lately, mainly because of his influence taking hold over the Detroit Lions. Not as late as last month, Hassanein expressed his willingness to even bet his life for the team amid the rookie minicamp media session. Despite being drafted in the sixth round, Hassanein might turn out to be crucial for the team to elevate its gameplay with Aidan Hutchinson returning after a leg injury for the 2025 NFL season.

Detroit Lions’ rookie Ahmed Hassanein makes waves

Recently, during a media session at the rookie minicamp last Thursday, Sheppard praised the edge rusher when asked about his team presence, “He's an absolute joy to be around. He's never had a bad day, and he doesn't know what 'slow down' means.” As the offseason practices are commencing with high energy, this was not the first time we witnessed the newly drafted player’s affection towards the team.
Last month, Hassanein took to his Instagram and posted a quote from his new head coach, Dan Campbell, as the caption of his picture. The quote read, “There is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is no light. There’s a song Metallica has, ‘No Leaf Clover,’ and it says, man, when it comes to the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, it’s just a freight train coming your way. If you see an expletive light, it’s just a freight train. Just put your HEAD DOWN and go to WORK. It’s about to be fun.”
Moreover, during the media session, Sheppard also gave an update about Hutchinson’s offseason performance during field practices. Not only did Sheppard mention Hutchinson’s game to be better than before, but he also highlighted him to be “the most energetic guy on the field.” With the outlook seeming great for the Lions, it will be intriguing to witness the relentless practices come to fruition for the team.
