While the Boston Red Sox are dealing with several other injuries this season, now, in yet another difficult spot, their first baseman, Triston Casas, has been injured too. The incident took place during a game against the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park. It was then when Casas fell down while he was running to first base in the second inning.
Triston Casas left injured mid game
After the incident took place at Fenway Park, and as soon as he fell down, Triston Casas held his left knee in pain. Soon enough, the trainers came to the rescue and helped him. Casas was then taken off the field on a stretcher.
Casas had a serious knee injury and was still in the hospital for tests. Casas had not been playing very well this season as he had a low batting average. But, this is Casas’ first injury. Last year as well, Casas had to miss out because of torn cartilage in his rib. This new injury is another tough moment in his young career.
While Triston Casas’s injury is just one of many for the Red Sox this season, most of the injuries have impacted their pitchers. Even Walker Buehler has been dealing with shoulder related issues, and is on a short break. Another player, Kutter Crawford also has a knee issue and hasn’t played yet this year because of it.
Boston Red Sox’s manager Alex Cora reacts
Boston Red Sox’s manager Alex Cora reacted to the whole situation and said that while Casas has been taken to a local hospital for further testing. He said:
“We’ll have more information tomorrow (Saturday), To be honest, it seemed like he was in shock, When you see the cart, you’re like whoa. It’s more than a twisted ankle or something like that.”
Further, Cora added that:
“They put in so much work and effort in the offseason to try and play 162-plus (games), then something like that happens. That’s the reason why you don’t take it for granted,” Cora said. “(Casas) loves being a big leaguer. He loves coming to the ballpark at 10 in the morning and leaving at midnight. For now, I think it’s going to be taken away, but he’s going to be back.”Also Read:
