With the Wuthering Waves 2.3 update, Zani has emerged as the Spectro Gauntlet DPS, bringing a fresh playstyle to the game. Her damage hinges on the Spectro Frazzle mechanic, while her explosive combat style and striking design turn heads. Zani’s visibility depends on the team synergy and the players' playstyle preferences. But with the limited resources, should players pull for Zani? Here is the breakdown of her strengths, weaknesses, and whether or not she will fit into your team.

Understanding Playstyle and strength: Is Zani worth a pull?

Is Zani a MUST PULL? Or Skip? | Wuthering Waves

The appeal of Zani is in her unique role as the high-damage Spectro specialist. Unlike the burst-focused DPS units, she thrives upon prolonged fights, stacking the Spectro Frazzle to wear down her enemies. Her kit revolves around the parrying attacks. It converts the Spectro Frazzle stacks to Heliacal Embers and unleashes heavy slashes in Zani Inferno Mode.
Zani is tankier than most DPS units, and visually, she is a standout as her ultimate can unleash fiery animations, swapping the attire in the middle of the battle for cinematic flair. Thanks to her blocking mechanics, she is forgiving within the combat. If you, as a player, enjoy the technical and counter-heavy gameplay, she is a rewarding choice.
Zani’s power comes with caveats. She requires Phoebe, another 5-star, to maximize the Spectro Frazzle stacks efficiently. Without her, the players must rely on Free Spectro Rover, who struggles with the endgame content. Such dependency can make Zani a costly pull for free-to-play gamers. So, if you are not ready to make an investment in Phoebe, the potential of Zani plummets.

Mastering Zani and her high-risk-reward playstyle

Zani's gameplay revolves around timing and parrying. To successfully block the attacks, charge her Redundant Energy. It enables her to develop powerful, transformed skills. At full energy, Zanis Resonance skill becomes the shield-breaking counter. Ultimate Zani Inferno Mode, on the other hand, unleashes the sweeping greatsword combo. The mechanics reward the skilled players, but they punish the hesitation or, rather, the passive enemies. The mistimed parries can even leave Zari vulnerable.
Team building is quite demanding here. Pairing Phoebe and Zani will ensure consistent Spectro Frazzle application, while a healer like Baizhi will offset Zani's close-range risks. For the F2P players, Verina and Spectro Rover offer workable but less potent alternatives. Zani excels within sustained battles, but she falters in the speedruns that dominate the burst damage.

Is Zani worth a pull?

You can pull Zani if you lack the strong Spectro DPS or if you enjoy the counter-based combat. You can also do so if you are willing to build Spectro Rover or Phoebe alongside her. Zani’s design and playstyle are top-tier, but her reliance on parry mechanics and Phoebe narrows down her appeal.
You can skip Zani if you prefer the simple and burst-heavy DPS or if you do not want to invest within Frazzle teams. Also, skip the character if you have Jinhsi built.
Remember, Zani is not the must-pull meta-breaker. However, she is a fun and highly skilled DPS. If her mechanics appeal to you, she is worth investing in. Just build her team right.
