Neil Nitin Mukesh is thoroughly impressed by the rising wave of young actors taking over Bollywood. In a candid chat with India Today Digital, Neil opened up about the evolving landscape of the Hindi film industry and shared his admiration for several fresh faces who according to him are redefining screen presence and performance.
Praising Vicky, Kartik, Rajkummar and moreIn an interview with Indiatoday.com, Neil didn’t hesitate to name those who’ve caught his attention.
“Vicky Kaushal is doing brilliantly,” he noted. “Kartik Aaryan too, is constantly evolving, he’s choosing diverse roles and shining in them.” He also gave a nod to Rajkummar Rao’s work, acknowledging the consistency and creativity he brings to his projects. But for Neil, the excitement doesn’t stop there. He pointed out that it’s nearly impossible to single out just one or two names. “Everyone from Janhvi Kapoor to Ananya Panday is really stepping up. They’re all pushing boundaries and that’s commendable.”
Ananya Panday’s performance stood outAmong the newer performances, Neil was pleasantly surprised by Ananya Panday’s work in 'Kesari Chapter 2.' He admitted that her portrayal impressed him more than he had expected. “She really stood out. I didn’t expect that depth but she delivered beautifully,” he shared.
A true cinema loverNeil also mentioned some recent films that left a lasting impression on him. “I saw 'Chhaava' and was blown away by Vicky’s performance. It was intense and heartfelt,” he said. Another film he enjoyed was 'Jewel Thief,' citing his admiration for director Siddharth Anand and actor Jaideep Ahlawat. “I’m a big fan of both. Their collaboration was solid entertainment.”
Other titles on Neil’s recent watchlist include 'Raid, Kesari featuring R. Madhavan and 'Hisaab Barabar.' "These films prove that mainstream cinema can still have powerful narratives. It’s not just about glitz but it’s about content with mass appeal.”
Movies that teach and inspireA self-proclaimed movie buff, Neil shared how cinema continues to shape his own artistry. “I love watching films and it’s not just entertainment for me. It’s education. I learn something new every time I watch a good film,” he reflected.
Neil’s comments highlight not just his deep respect for the craft but also the changing face of Bollywood—one that’s being led with passion, experimentation and plenty of heart.
